Our History

True South Actuaries and Consultants (Pty) Ltd was born at the turn of the century. At the time we secured an extensive outsourcing deal with a financial services company in the United Kingdom, affording it the opportunity to successfully outsource actuarial work to a further twenty independent practises in South Africa. Apart from the technical know-how, valuable knowledge was gained in the establishment of an administrative function in Cape Town, South Africa, to seamlessly interact with UK client institutions and their clients.

During the second quarter of 2002 the company increased its South African involvement and was subsequently re-branded as True South Actuaries and Consultants (Pty) Ltd in May 2003 to reflect its focus on change and commitment to the local industry.

True South has since acquired an impressive clientele including blue chip companies from the financial services sector — life insurers, short term insurers, asset managers and retail wealth managers. The company also consults to industry bodies, reinsurance brokers, medical schemes and other JSE-listed companies outside the financial services domain.
